Abu Dhabi is the largest of the seven emirates with over 85 percent of the country’s land area. Abu Dhabi city is the country’s capital, seat of government and home to ministries, embassies, broadcasters and oil companies.
Like its neighbour Dubai, Abu Dhabi has a long list of luxury hotels dominating the skyline. Most halal-friendly hotels can be found on or near the Corniche downtown some 30 minutes drive from the airport. In this area can be found state of the art shopping malls and the UAE Heritage village is only five minutes drive away.

The exception to this location is the Officers Club & Hotel, which has a splendid site near Shaikh Zayed Mosque and is only a 15-minute drive to the airport. Many Islamic holiday hotels here offer world-class facilities and all offer fine food and quality service.

The Officers Club & Hotel
One of the emirate’s most prestigious properties the hotel’s architectural design is internationally acclaimed. Unique features are a Grand Theatre and an inner garden, one of the world’s largest assemblies of 142 species of plants in an indoor location. All food is halal. No alcohol sold or allowed at the hotel premises, with the exception of some restaurants.

Jannah Burj Al Sarab
This luxury hotel is located in the heart of downtown, just a 5-minute drive to the Corniche and 30-minute drive from the airport. It boasts the world's fastest hotel Internet at 1.2Gb per second, 10 times faster than the average speed. The hotel has an alcohol free environment.

Grand Mercure Majlis
Set in a blue-and-silver tower, this upscale hotel has a central location in the Al Zahiyah tourist club area. It is a 3-minute drive to Abu Dhabi Mall.

Ramada Hotel Abu Dhabi Corniche
With a rooftop pool and spa this hotel has an enviable location just 5 minutes walk to the Corniche Beach and 10 minutes drive to Sadiyat (Happiness) Island.

Things to see

  • Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan al Nahyan Grand Mosque is the largest mosque in the UAE and the eighth largest in the world. The site alone is the size of five football fields. Seven giant Swarovski chandeliers with more than one million crystals hang from the ceilings.

  • The UAE Heritage Village offers a glimpse of the country’s past with models of traditional local life in coastal, desert, country and mountain locales. It displays many types of buildings made of stone, palm fronds and also tents.

  • The Louvre Abu Dhabi by Jean Nouvel on Saadiyat Island is a metaphor for a traditional Arabic souk with small, shaded passages.

  • Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi is a futuristic waterpark offering over 40 thrilling rides, slides and a dash of Arabian-themed adventure.

  • Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is the world’s first Ferrari theme park and the largest attraction of its kind. It tells the Ferrari story through over 20 rides and attractions. These include the world’s fastest roller coaster and an interactive display of cars from 1947 to the present

Family Friendly Entertainment

  • Al Khadiliya Public Park offers respite from the heat of the Corniche in summer. Also has a 20-minute jogging circuit and climbing frames and other attractions for youngsters.

  • Marina Mall along with shopping there is a multiplex cinema, ice skating rink and Fun city, a huge activity centre for children that includes a roller coaster and dodgem cars

  • Manarat al Saadiyat means Place of Enlightenment and is a custom built art and culture centre with multiple gallery spaces. Three major galleries host temporary and permanent art exhibitions. Displays include the interactive Camouflage Sculpture by Zeinab al Hashemi. It is fun to see children clambering over the stylised work representing shifting desert sands.

Facilities for Women

  • Al Bateen Beach has dedicated ladies-only section accommodates up to 1,100 women and children in its waters. It lies 200 meters off Al Bateen Beach. Female lifeguards are on duty ensuring safety.

  • Yas Beach and Yas Waterworld with over 40 thrilling rides, slides and attractions are exclusively for ladies on a Saturday.

  • Al Khadiliyah Kid’s Park on Shaikh Zayed the first Street has a few fruit-shaped climbing frames. It is popular on weekends with local women and children (no boys over 10 allowed).

  • The Officers Club & Hotel has a separate spa for ladies and the pool is available to ladies only at certain times.

  • Grand Mercure Majlis Abu Dhabi has spa centre with 100% privacy either for ladies only or for your family/group only (all day or certain hours)
